Aspen Council Amends Short-Term Rental Regulations

On November 18, the Aspen City Council approved amendments to short-term rental (STR) regulations to streamline the permit process and increase compliance. Changes ease paperwork for renewals, allow limited permit transfers in cases of property sale, death, or divorce, and introduce a 90-day temporary permit for new owners to honor pre-existing reservations. Existing permit types remain unchanged, with caps and fees intact. The amendments also modify the annual homeowner’s association affidavit requirement.
