    The Competitive Edge: Optimizing Tech Stack to Drive Quality and Service

    It comes as no surprise that tech adoption in the short-term rental and hospitality sectors has accelerated over the past year, alongside a sharpening focus on quality, safety, and cleanliness.

    According to the second annual Property Operations Report from Breezeway, of which we got an inside look before it was released, managers are increasingly automating processes to boost their brand and gain a competitive edge.

    The report from the property operations and service platform for short-term rental and hospitality professionals showed that 88% of managers plan to differentiate their business by expanding or optimizing their tech stack this year, with 53% of respondents now using four or more software solutions to run their business.

    Cleanliness, safety, and communication continue to be at the heart of managing properties to a high standard and meeting guest expectations. Breezeway’s report found that 71% of vacation rental managers believe that high guest expectations for cleaning standards will remain after the pandemic, leading 73% to address guest and property safety in 2021 by conducting routine preventative maintenance.

    Communication with guests and owners was found to be the highest rated pain point for professionals amongst respondents. Last year, 74% of managers planned to adjust their communication strategies in order to reassure guests during the pandemic—the report finds this trend to continue in 2021. It shows that it’s not enough to implement more safety checks, cleanings, or better task scheduling, but that the measures taken at a property must be communicated to owners and guests in order for it to be valuable to a business.
