The Vacation Rental Management Association (VRMA) this week introduced the Right to Rent program, powered by Inhabit IQ, as part of the organization’s ongoing effort to help protect the rights of property owners to rent their vacation properties. Right to Rent is designed to fund VRMA’s critical advocacy efforts that support the entire vacation and short-term rental industry.
“As an industry we need to partner together, and part of VRMA’s role is to educate property owners to make sure they’re aware of the issues our industry is facing,” said Jodi Refosco, VRMA board member and immediate-past president, and co-owner of Taylor-Made Deep Creek Vacations & Sales in Maryland. “What happens in California or Chicago does impact what happens everywhere else, even if it might not be in your backyard.”
Property management companies that participate in Right to Rent will add a nominal fee to their bookings, then donate those fees to a fund that supports the fight against unfair regulations.
Inhabit IQ’s integration software facilitates the Right to Rent program through an add-on donation per guest booking, typically included as an administration or program fee within the reservation.
“The Right to Rent initiative is a collaboration with VRMA that will help us as an industry have a singular voice—a stronger voice—when it comes to advocacy and government relations,” said Eric Broughton, Inhabit IQ’s chief strategy officer.
All revenue generated through Right to Rent flow directly from the participating company’s general ledger to the VRMA Right to Rent fund as an ordinary month-end disbursement. The Inhabit IQ platform provides real-time reporting and tracking of all funds collected.
