2024 DEI Impact Award: Generali Global Assistance

6/9/2025

The VRMA Excellence Awards celebrate and recognize the incredible work, contributions, and impact that vacation rental professionals have made in the past year. We are highlighting each of the 11 award recipients in 2024, continuing today with the 2024 DEI Impact Award: Generali Global Assistance.

Generali Global Assistance received this award for its dedication to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion through its pioneering “Think Ability” program. This initiative, launched globally in anticipation of the Paris 2024 Olympics and Paralympics, focuses on changing perceptions of disability by supporting an international team of 13 high-performance para-athletes across nine countries. By sponsoring these athletes, Generali not only aids in their journey to the Paralympic Games but also champions inclusivity and challenges traditional biases within the organization and broader community.

In the United States, Generali’s sponsorship of Brittni Mason, a 26-year-old sprinter from Orlando with Erb’s Palsy, exemplifies the spirit of this program. Brittni’s impressive achievements, including a gold medal in the mixed 4x100m relay and silver medals in the 100m and 200m T47 events at the Tokyo Paralympics, highlight her resilience and talent, redefining what is possible for athletes with disabilities. Through this support, Generali aims to inspire others by reinforcing that disabilities do not limit one’s potential for greatness.

Generali’s sponsorship of Brittni Mason is a powerful example of the “Think Ability” program’s goals. Beyond athletics, Generali uses this platform to educate and influence perceptions, helping organizations, employees, and communities worldwide to rethink disability as “diverse ability.” This dedication to advancing DEI through meaningful, tangible actions that go beyond corporate statements has made a profound impact on the company culture, talent acquisition, and community influence, positioning Generali Global Assistance as a true leader in DEI.
