Airbnb Says AI Writes 60% of Its New Code

Airbnb said AI generated 60% of the new code written by its engineers during the first quarter of 2026, helping accelerate software development and support tools for property management partners. CEO Brian Chesky also said Airbnb’s AI customer-support bot now resolves 40% of issues without human escalation, while the company experiments with AI-powered search features. However, Chesky argued current chatbot interfaces remain poorly suited for travel and e-commerce because they rely too heavily on text, make comparisons difficult, and lack collaborative and map-based functionality.
