Arizona Cities to Seek Legislation Limiting Short-Term Rentals
9/2/2025
The League of Arizona Cities and Towns plans to pursue legislation in the 2026 session to give municipalities more control over short-term rentals. Proposed measures include capping licenses in oversaturated areas and lowering the threshold for license revocation for repeat violations. Previous bills in 2025 failed to advance, in part due to a moratorium agreement with Airbnb and Expedia preventing the league from lobbying until 2027. Arizona counties, including Mohave, are also seeking changes to better regulate and tax short-term rental properties.
