Clark County, Nevada, commissioners unanimously approved new rules preventing short-term rental platforms from collecting payments for unlicensed properties. Under the new rules, platforms would be required to block reservations for properties that cannot be verified as licensed. STR owners criticized the policy, arguing it could make operating their businesses more difficult, particularly because they say the county’s licensing system has been unavailable or dysfunctional since 2022. The rules effectively make any STR operating without a business license illegal in Clark County.
