Compromise Plan Would Regulate Arizona’s Short-Term Rentals

2/19/2026

Efforts to allow Arizona towns and cities to limit the number of short-term rentals have failed in the state Legislature amid staunch industry opposition. However, one legislator backing such a bill—aimed at helping urban cities and tourist towns like Sedona that are currently overwhelmed by the surging number of STRs—is applauding the fact her measure is advancing. Rep. Selina Bliss (R-Prescott) recently said she was able to pull advocates of new limits and industry representatives together and get them to agree on a compromise proposal giving towns and cities new tools to regulate STRs. It recently passed the Commerce Committee by an 8-2 vote and is now headed to the full state House of Representatives for consideration.
