Eight in 10 Small Hotel Guests Would Consider Switching to STRs

PriceLabs research found that 82% of travelers who stayed at a bed and breakfast, inn, or small hotel would consider switching to a short-term rental at the same or a slightly lower price. The survey covered 1,082 travelers across the US, UK, France, Spain, and Portugal. Nearly half would switch at the same price, while 30% of independent accommodation guests also considered rentals for the same trip, compared with 16% of large hotel guests. Comparisons were especially common for work-and-leisure trips and bookings through Booking.com. Hotel and rental rates also closely correlated in Mallorca and Barcelona, highlighting increasing competition between accommodation types.
