EU short-term rental demand continued growing in 2026, with tourists spending 258.8 million nights in accommodations booked through platforms such as Airbnb, Booking.com, and Expedia during the April–June period. That was 5.3% higher than the same period in 2025, representing 13.1 million additional nights. Compared with the second quarter of 2024, bookings were up 23.9%, or 50 million nights. Eurostat’s figures track short-stay accommodations listed through major online platforms. During the first quarter of 2026, Spain’s Canary Islands and France’s Rhône-Alpes region were the most popular destinations, each recording 8.8 million nights. Andalusia followed with 8.3 million nights. Spain accounted for half of the top 10 regions.
