Illinois County Approves New Short-Term Rental Rules
2/25/2026
Kendall County, Illinois, officials approved new short-term rental regulations aimed at improving safety and addressing neighborhood concerns. The rules include occupancy limits and added health and life-safety inspection requirements, reflecting worries that short-term guests may not notice hazards during brief stays. County Board Chairman Matt Kellogg said the measures are intended to ensure properties are safe for temporary occupancy. Two rental operators opposed the changes, arguing their properties are family-oriented and unfairly judged.
