Jackson County Votes to Postpone Reclassification of STR Properties

The Jackson County, Mo., Legislature voted to postpone reclassifying short-term rentals from residential to commercial properties for this assessment period (about two years) after hearing testimony Wednesday. The reclassification would've significantly raised the homeowners' taxes, in some cases, up to 32%. The Legislature's vote to delay the reclassification will be upheld by the Jackson County Executive, providing temporary relief while officials work on a long-term solution.
