Maine Cities and Towns Will Not Be Allowed to Collect an Extra Tax on STRs

Maine's House and Senate have failed to adopt a measure that would have authorized cities and towns throughout the state to collect up to a 2% local option sales tax on temporary rental accommodations. This additional tax would have been levied alongside the state’s existing 9% lodging tax.
