Ocean City, MD, Council Rescinds STR Moratorium

The Ocean City Council has unanimously voted to rescind its short-term rental (STR) moratorium following sustained opposition from residents. The decision came after the Ocean City Residents Against Short-Term Rental Restrictions group gathered more than 1,200 petition signatures and won a July 2025 special election challenging the ordinance. Councilwoman Carol Proctor said community outreach showed the moratorium was unjust. The moratorium had been scheduled to remain in place until January 2027.
