Riverside County, CA, Advances Major STR Enforcement Overhaul

Riverside County, California, is moving forward with a major update to its short-term rental regulations through Ordinance No. 927.3. The measure strengthens the county’s enforcement authority, revises STR certificate application and renewal requirements, and updates the process for suspending or revoking certificates following substantiated violations. The ordinance also modifies operational requirements and would allow the county’s temporary moratorium on new STRs in Thousand Palms and B Bar H Ranch to expire once the new rules take effect. A companion ordinance would also revise registration and annual renewal fees for STR operators. The Board of Supervisors previously advanced the ordinance with amendments, including changes to violation thresholds and creation of a public database, before it returned for adoption on August 25.
