Riverside County Supervisors Delay STR Ordinance Changes Amid Enforcement Concerns
2/11/2026
The Riverside County, California, Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to delay proposed changes to its short-term rental ordinance after residents raised concerns about persistent enforcement problems. During a 90-minute public hearing, community members cited loud parties, safety issues and repeat violations by a small number of operators. Supervisors acknowledged shortcomings in after-hours code enforcement and law enforcement response, saying better coordination is needed before amendments proceed. County leaders will conduct a “deep dive” review with the Sheriff’s Department and land management officials to identify solutions. Meanwhile, a moratorium on new short-term rental certificates in Thousand Palms and B Bar H Ranch is expected to be renewed.
