St. Charles County, MO, Council Proposes STR Regulations
5/12/2026
St. Charles County, Missouri, is considering new regulations on short-term rentals (STRs). Council member Tim Baker said the proposal is aimed at adding enforcement “teeth,” since many rental properties are owned by out-of-state companies that are hard to reach when problems occur. The draft rules would limit overnight guests and parking, require property inspections, restrict density so only one STR within a 600-foot radius, and mandate a local contact for emergencies or code enforcement. The proposal comes as nearby St. Louis struggles to enforce its own STR rules due to a legal challenge.
