The add-on, available to US travelers on Vrbo, differs from traditional travel insurance by allowing trips to proceed while still providing payouts if conditions qualify. WeatherPromise calculates thresholds using historical rainfall data tailored to each location and date. Analysts say the feature could reduce weather-related disputes and help Vrbo differentiate itself from competitors.
