Aspen’s STR Guidelines May Be Amended
Aspen city staff will ask the City Council on November 17 to approve amendments to the city’s Short Term Rental Program guidelines. The guidelines explain existing land-use code requirements, including permit applications, public notices, waitlists, and compliance procedures, without establishing new policy. Proposed changes would address permit transfers, tax-reporting exemptions, and the implementation of Localgov, the city’s new STR permitting software. Updates will also provide instructions for renewing permits through the platform. The changes coincide with the annual renewal period, running November 15 through January 14. If approved, staff will publish the revised guidelines online and notify STR permit holders.
