FL County STR Proposal Would Require $200 Registration Fee
In Florida, Hillsborough County commissioners have advanced a draft ordinance that would require short-term vacation rental owners to register with the county, pay a $200 fee, and designate a round-the-clock property representative. The county, which has more than 3,000 STRs, currently has no local regulations specific to them. Officials estimate registration fees could generate $600,000 annually. The proposal also includes a $50 fee for missed inspections, and Commissioner Harry Cohen said the measure is intended to improve accountability and enforcement at rental properties.
