Gwinnett County Cracks Down on STRs with New License Rule
Gwinnett County, Georgia, has approved a new ordinance tightening rules on short-term rentals (STRs) in unincorporated areas, requiring annual licenses, regular safety inspections, and a 24/7 local contact for each property. The Board of Commissioners unanimously passed the measure on April 14, with enforcement set to begin April 14, 2027. The rules allow the county to suspend or revoke licenses for repeat violations and aim to address complaints about noise, parking congestion, and absentee property owners. Officials estimate there are around 1,300 STR listings in the area.
