NC Senate Bill Seeks to Curb Local Control of STRs
A new proposal in the North Carolina General Assembly could significantly limit how local governments regulate short-term rentals. Senate Bill 291 is currently under consideration by the Senate Committee on Rules and Operations after its introduction in March as of publication. The bill would prevent municipalities from banning or heavily restricting the use of residential properties for short-term rentals. The bill states that “it is in the best interest of the state to establish uniform guidelines for short-term rentals.”
