San Antonio-area Town Settles Federal Suit Challenging Short-term Rental Ban
The town of Hollywood Park has settled a federal lawsuit brought by homeowners challenging an ordinance banning short-term rentals that went into effect in late 2023. While the agreed judgment notes that the city’s ordinance banning such businesses is valid, it also recognizes that the plaintiffs have a legal right to a “non-conforming use” of their properties. The plaintiffs plaintiffs—two individuals and a company—have in essence been given grandfather status to continue renting their homes to tenants for less than 30 days.
