Short-Term Lets Not to Blame for Scotland’s Housing Crisis, Research Shows
Short-term lets are not to blame for the housing crisis in Scotland, according to new research from consultancy BiGGAR Economics. The study found that short-term lets boost Scotland’s economy by £154 million gross value added annually, supporting 5,580 jobs in the capital Edinburgh alone. According to the report, short-term lets only make up 1% of all homes in Scotland, with secondary lets at just 0.8% in Edinburgh, compared to the 3.6% made up by empty properties.
