    Madison County, North Carolina, leaders are relaxing rules for vacation rental operators.to foster tourism and investments. Commissioners voted to approve changes to the county's land use ordinances. One change relaxes road requirements for vacation rental operators with 10 or fewer units on one property. Another change drops the square-footage limit for vacation rental units. By making the changes, commissioners are opening the industry to those who want to invest in homes larger than 1,200 square feet and rent them out as vacation homes.
