New Bill Would Scrap Asheville's Ban on Short-Term Rentals

A new bill sponsored by N.C. State Senator Tim Moffitt would effectively scrap Asheville's ban on short-term rentals. As the law stands, owners can rent out rooms in their homes, but they can't rent out the entire house for less than 30 days. Asheville and Wilmington are the two largest cities in North Carolina that have 30-day minimum stay rules for rentals within city limits. The new bill states no city can adopt an ordinance that prohibits a homeowner from listing their property as a short-term rental.
