The Byron shire council has been given the green light by the New South Wales, Australia, government to cap short-stay rentals at 60 days per year in line with advice from the state’s independent planning tribunal. The government will not implement all of the planning tribunal’s recommendations, handed down in April, saying to do so “at this time” would have had “broader implications” for the whole short-term rental network across the state.
