Kenya-based Purple Elephant Ventures has shuttered its Wavel rental platform due to incompatibility with remote workers. Wavel was intended to link African destinations to mainly high-end professionals as ideal remote work locations, but infrastructure needs as well as brand identity were hindrances. Purple Elephant Ventures CEO Ben Peterson also believes demand for remote work has started to flag. "Blended travel seems less blurry, and more distinct: this is work, this vacation, let's keep them separate," he explained. Purple Elephant Ventures now intends to build three or four startups annually, while moving forward on other startups.
