Airbnb Hosts Try New Feature to Get Guests Traveling Again: Pickleball

Pickleball is an amenity that Airbnb and Vrbo hosts are increasingly offering, with AirDNA estimating that the number of pickleball citations rose 32 percent to nearly 1,300 from 2019. A surge of short-term rentals with pickleball accommodations was observed during the pandemic, and they can help such properties gain interest. More guests are seeking stays of a month or more, and many are bringing their families with them. Airbnb says the top amenities on their list include home offices, fast Wi-Fi, backyards, and pet-friendly homes. The company advises on a blog post for hosts, "Thoughtfully outfitting your space and adding popular amenities to your listing will help you stand out from the crowd." One host on the Airbnb website suggested that other hosts "write your listing to invite people who value and enjoy the same things you do." AirDNA says Saint George, Utah, has the most pickleball-related rental listings in the country with over 100, followed by St. Petersburg, Panama City Beach, and Naples, Florida.
