Bozeman City Commission Passes Provisional Ordinance Regulating Short-Term Rentals

The Bozeman, Mont., City Commission voted to pass a provisional ordinance to bring more short-term rental (STR) homes into code compliance. The ordinance would require hosting platforms to provide quarterly lists of all STRs to the city, including each listing’s address and permit number. It would also require that hosting platforms remove listings without permits within five days of notice or else face penalties. By the city’s estimation, there are currently 533 active short-term rentals in the city. The city estimates that under half of those are in compliance with its STR code.
