Montreal Has Started Blitz of Inspections of Short-Term Rentals, Mayor Says

Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante said inspections of short-term rentals (STRs) are underway in the city to ensure they conform to building and fire codes ahead of the busy tourist season. The inspections follow a March 16 fire at Place d’Youville in Old Montreal that killed seven people. Some of the victims where STR guests. The building was in a part of a city where STRs were barred.
