The looming departure of Vacasa's Chief Commercial Officer Craig Smith has prompted a new executive reshuffling, as a filing with the U.S. Security and Exchange Commission indicates he will leave after March 13. The company has therefore elevated Chief Operating Officer (COO) John Banczak to a principal executive position. Banczak joined Vacasa in April 2021 when the company acquired TurnKey, a business he co-founded and headed. As COO, Banczak coordinates Vacasa's field and central operating teams. Vacasa has undertaken major changes in its push for profitability, including a 17 percent workforce reduction that trimmed 1,300 positions from local operations and corporate teams, and the elimination of 33 positions at its headquarters in Portland, Oregon.
