    Memphis to Require Permits for Short-Term Rentals

    The city of Memphis, Tenn., will soon require short term rentals (STRs) to obtain a permit and will set parameters for how those rentals can lose those permits. The ordinance, approved on its final reading on March 21, will makes changes to the city's STR law that dates to 2016. “Obviously there’s a proper use and improper use of residential properties," said Robert Knecht, director of public works for the city. "What we’re trying to do is manage improper uses."
